We took a wonderful 10-day trip with a group to discover the beauty of Western Canada . A short flight over from Vancouver to Vancouver Island brought us into Tofino. The Relais & Chateaux Wickaninnish Inn did not disappoint and remains one of our favorite hotel stays in the world. Smack on the Pacific Ocean with nothing between you and Japan, we spent 3 days filled with hiking, boating and relaxing. Some of the prettiest beaches and views you will ever see.
We flew back to Vancouver for 1 night before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff. The attention to detail along the way was superb. The 2 day/1night trip was full of spectacular scenery, wildlife sightings and fantastic food. The train was a complete escape from everyday life, and to do it in such comfort! We disembarked in Jasper where we settled into the log style Jasper Lodge. The beautiful setting on the lake provided the perfect atmosphere for relaxation.
The drive between Jasper and Banff on the Iceland’s Parkway is beyond description. It is one of the great drives in the western hemisphere with breathtaking views. The Parkway is the scenic connector between Jasper and Lake Louise. Whether only to be a wilderness spectator, an active hiker or fishing the lakes, there are few prettier places in the northern hemisphere.
